Community Livelihoods Enhancement and Resilience (CLEAR) Project

The objective of the Home Nutrition Garden Activity is to promote the production of diverse, easy-to-grow, nutrient-rich, and climate-resilient crops, as well as to introduce improved gardening techniques such as composting, bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, and seed production techniques.

Members of the community nutrition groups have established household gardens at their homes and have planted at least 3 types of crops recommended by the project, totaling 5,983 gardens.

The Home Nutrition Garden activity is one of the nutrition activities under the Community Livelihoods Enhancement and Resilience (CLEAR) Project. In 2025, this activity has been implemented in 230 villages across 14 districts in 7 provinces, which are the target villages of Phase I of the project.

Model farmers for home nutrition garden from each village — 3 persons per village, totaling 464 people — have received training on growing crops in both the dry season and rainy season, as well as on compost making, bio-fertilizer production, and biopesticide production from the Lao Farmers’ Association. They have further trained members of the community nutrition groups in each village and distributed dry-season and rainy-season crop seeds for planting in their household gardens.
