Community Livelihoods Enhancement and Resilience (CLEAR) Project

CRI Environmental and Social Surveys and Village Consultations Completed

CRI Environmental and Social Surveys during May–July 2025

Following district government approval of Village Development Plans (VDPs), the CLEAR Project conducted Environmental and Social (ES) surveys for proposed Community Resilience Infrastructure (CRI) activities during May–July 2025. The surveys covered 230 target villages, encompassing approximately 306 CRI sub-projects, and were jointly undertaken by Engineers and ES Officers.
The timing and scope of surveys in each location were adapted to local conditions, including weather patterns and village accessibility. The surveys aimed to screen potential environmental and social risks, identify proportionate mitigation measures, and inform the preparation of required ES instruments prior to implementation.
In parallel, village-level public consultations were organized alongside technical meetings to confirm design drawings. These sessions enabled communities to review proposed CRIs, provide feedback, and ensure that local priorities and safeguard measures were incorporated into final designs.
This integrated process supports safe, inclusive, and environmentally responsible delivery of CRI investments while strengthening community ownership and alignment with approved village priorities.
